Peruvian Politician's Textile Business Operates Without License in Her Home

## Politician's Textile Business Under Scrutiny A textile business owned by Peruvian politician Catherine Palomino, a close ally of former President Pedro Castillo, has been found to be operating without a license in her home in Huancavelica. The local municipality has confirmed that the business is located in the same address that Palomino presented during her campaign, where she showcased the business as an example of her entrepreneurial spirit. According to a report by Cuarto Poder, a local news program, the business is located in Palomino's residence and is equipped with machines, fabrics, and materials for making jackets. A worker at the business confirmed that it has been operating for approximately a year and that other people collaborate with orders from their own homes. The business has the capacity to produce dozens of garments, and a worker stated that it could deliver a order of 50 jackets in a week, requiring a 50% advance payment. ## Lack of License Raises Concerns The local municipality has stated that the business does not have a license to operate, and this lack of authorization can result in a fine or even the closure of the establishment. Macario De La Cruz, subgerente de Comercialización of the Municipalidad Provincial de Huancavelica, explained that the business was not found in the municipal records between 2000 and March 2026. ## Family Involvement and Business Operations Palomino's abuela, Dionisia Fernández, confirmed that the business belongs to the family and is owned by Palomino. Fernández explained that the business operates within the home and is not open to the public. When asked about the lack of municipal authorization, she stated that it is not necessary when the business is not open to the public. Palomino's family has a history of developing businesses related to the confection and commercialization of garments for institutions in Huancavelica. However, Palomino has not responded to requests for comment on the matter. ## Background on Politician's Controversies This revelation comes after a recent report by Cuarto Poder revealed a series of chats sent from a number registered to Palomino, in which she allegedly threatened and insulted a relative of former President Castillo and claimed to have a relationship with him. Palomino has been at the center of controversy in recent weeks, and this latest development raises further questions about her business dealings and potential conflicts of interest.
